Among the poorest, only a few graduate. The WISER school<\/a> is situated in the Nyanza province, one of the most deprived areas of Kenya, with 7 out of 10 inhabitants living below the poverty line.<\/p>\n

After working in Kenya for 14 years, the social entrepreneur Sherryl Broverman founded WISER with Kenyan colleagues. WISER is a secondary boarding school for girls from impoverished and vulnerable families. The school is free, and admissions are based on the family situation and the girls\u2019 primary school grades. The school has a particular focus on science. In addition to the regular subjects, the school also focuses on teaching the girls sexual and reproductive health and rights. In turn, the girls train girls at other schools in the area.<\/p>\n

Together with Social Initiative, WISER has doubled the number of students since 2016. Social Initiative also helped WISER establish an alumni network and assisted in fundraising for the expansion of the school.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]\r\n\t
